Summer into Fall 2023

After a crazy winter, it was such a relief to have a quiet and pretty fabulous Spring. Root systems got much needed rain, held the hills together and though I lost 3 trees over the Winter, one of them, a Sycamore, has come back more like a fast growing shrub. I’m leaving it for now just to use the shade and windbreak it’s affording me.

Through the month of July, we hit 100+ continuously, which became very challenging. Many of my young trees were starting to take, and stayed strong through the Heat Dome. Unfortunately, I had planted 10 very young Cypress trees, at this writing I have 5 left, 2 of them being very tentative. In August, we had Tropical Storm Hilary, which dumped 10 inches of rain on us. What came next was a fabulous August, and an an almost Spring-like regrowth.
